About Me

I am a child and adolescent psychotherapist, adult psychotherapist and group analyst, offering both individual and group therapy. My aim is to provide a thoughtful, reliable, and confidential space in which difficulties can be explored and understood, and where meaningful change can become possible over time.

My clinical approach is grounded in both psychoanalysis and group analysis, with particular attention to relationships and development, considering the ways past experience shapes present life, while also bearing current interpersonal dynamics and the broader social context in mind. I work with individuals facing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, from acute distress to longer-standing patterns that may feel difficult to change.

Professional Background

Following a master’s in Psychoanalytic Developmental Psychology (UCL & the Anna Freud Centre) over 25 years ago, I undertook a two-year pre-clinical training (post-graduate diploma in Psychoanalytic Observational Studies) and four-year full-time doctoral level clinical training in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, both at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. I then later trained in group analysis and adult psychotherapy through the Institute of Group Analysis (a further five years+).

Since training, my work has included roles within NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS); NHS Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS); specialist services for fostering, adoption and kinship care; schools, colleges and universities; a community-based psychotherapy service for adolescents and young adults; and charitable organisations supporting refugees and asylum seekers.

I have also held teaching, supervisory, and leadership roles on both master’s and doctoral programmes in both psychotherapy and systems-psychodynamics, including at the Tavistock. I am a past Editor of the Journal of Child Psychotherapy, contributing to ongoing professional dialogue and development in the field.

Before training as a psychotherapist, I worked with children, young people, and adults with a range of developmental and learning differences, including ASD and ADHD, in different settings. This included running an adolescent unit in a residential therapeutic community for children with special educational needs, and supporting adults experiencing homelessness and complex mental health challenges in a day-centre.

Beyond Clinical Practice

In addition to my regular clinical work, I have been involved in consultation, training, and supervision in both the UK and internationally. This has included developing services and training programmes, offering leadership and organisational consultancy, and facilitating both therapeutic and reflective practice groups for mental health practitioners from a range of backgrounds, often working in complex, high-stress environments, including those shaped by large-scale social trauma.
