Adult Psychotherapy
A Safe and Reflective Space
Psychotherapy provides a confidential space to explore emotional difficulties, relationship patterns, or experiences that feel overwhelming, confusing, or “stuck.” It is a collaborative process, helping you understand how past experiences, unconscious patterns, and current challenges interact, and supporting the development of new ways of thinking, feeling, and relating.
Whether you are facing a specific difficulty or seeking deeper reflection on life, identity, or meaning, psychotherapy can support growth, resilience, and change.
Who This Can Help
Psychotherapy can assist with a broad range of concerns, including but not limited to:
Anxiety, panic, or persistent worry
Depression, low mood, or loss of motivation
Relationship difficulties, past or present
Loss, grief, or major life transitions
Trauma, including childhood trauma
Identity, self-esteem, or questions of meaning and belonging
Stress related to work, family, or life pressures
Emotional overwhelm, difficulty managing feelings, or anger
Repetitive or self-defeating behavioural patterns
Early attachment difficulties and complex relational dynamics
Experiences of abuse, neglect, or violence
Self-harm, suicidal thoughts, or risk-taking behaviours
The Therapy Process
Initial Consultation
I usually begin with an initial meeting to discuss your needs, explore what brings you to therapy, and answer any questions.
Initial Assessment Sessions
Following an initial consultation, I usually offer a three-session assessment, though this may be longer in some cases. These sessions are a chance for you to talk about what brings you to therapy, ask questions, and get a sense of how I work. They also give me the opportunity to consider whether I believe I can offer you a helpful therapeutic space. There is no obligation to continue after these sessions. You may wish to take time to reflect on whether it feels like the right fit.
Ongoing Therapy
If we agree to continue after the assessment, we will establish a regular session time, which is reserved for you each week. Consistency and reliability are central to the therapeutic process. Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held once a week. In some cases, more frequent sessions (two or three times per week) may be recommended depending on your needs. I offer both short term and open-ended therapy.
